| Yes, I've been running SMCFanControl for the last few months. I have my CPU fan set to run at 2800 RPM and the HD at 2300. This helped a lot. My CPU had been running around 112 F but in Lion has been running about 120 F. HOWEVER, I replaced the RAM this afternoon, took a small shop van and sucked the dust bunnies out of all the vents and now am at around 115 F. Seemed to make a difference. The thought crossed my mind too about taking it all apart to clean the internals out but that is an act of congress getting into these things. I've read that using a small vacuum cleaner will get most of the crud out of them.
You can install Lion on all your Macs as long as you own them, according to this:
