I had a similar problem. Found that the voltage to the my Mid Tech flow meter requires 12 volts. I was getting less than 6 volts. I suggest finding the voltage requirement of your Dickey John flow meter (check the voltage out of your older harness) and compare it to the voltage out of your new harness.
