Von, given it's a Dell, open the case and look carefully at the capacitors on the motherboard. If the little can tops look at all swollen, it's possible your motherboard is toast. I saw another bad one tonight...several years old and capacitors swollen, and the system acted weird before it just would not boot. Several others did the same at work.
