Yes, it's exponential. Doubling the speed roughly quadruples the power required is what I've been told. I'm sure someone will be along to disagree with me shortly.....


There may be some instances where this is true.

My experience with a Lemkin Rubin 12 is this. Neighbor bought a 22' couple years ago. He only has a Cat 765B (320 hp). At 5" depth, he could pull it about 5 mph. Last spring, he rented one of my 95Es to pull it. I could go 10 mph, but it was taking all my 430 HP to do it.

100% increase in speed, 35% more power.

Just my experience.
