When I worked at CHS I remember plenty of times when 100% or over of our storage capacity would be on delayed price

The elevators I managed had about 6 million storage capacity…..plenty of times we would have more then that on DP…..

Anyone want to guess what the total amount of corn on delayed price is at any given moment?

Anyone want to take under a billion bushels of corn????? I dont know for sure what that number is but I bet it is most years close to our carryout……….

A billion bushels that buyers use with out having to pay for

Where the buyer set the price

I understand why guys haul and put it on DP……but the reason everyone is offering FREEE DP is because they make money on it…..not because they are nice guys

It gets supply……allows them to take a basis position against the farmers at the first sign of an inverse or basis weakness

If the American Farmer didn’t have corn on DP……price would be a dollar a bushel higher overnight…..maybe more

Buyers would either have to pay to buy it, find a replacement product, or shut the doors

So cumulatively it matters, fine. But I assume you agree that my 20k bushels made no difference in the grand scheme of things on a national level.

Despise it all you want, there are times it has served a short term purpose as well as times it ended up not working out. if it sits there for years, open storage or price and walk is the better route.

If we want to make a list of all the things that would add a buck to the corn market, I’m all in.
