Subject: New farms and surprisingly good yields.

Central Wisconsin

I have been reading blogs and watching videos about healthy soil and biodiversity. Lots of the claims are with multiseeded  vairities  of cover crops they are able to grow nice crops with very little fertilizer.

Over the years I have picked up new farms here and there, many have by modern standard, been farmed very poorly with little fertilizer used on low testing soils.  Most of these farms were crazy weedy before I took them over. Yet most farms would grow very good crops with very low testing soils.

Was the reason for the good crops on low fertility land caused by the prior years biodiversity of the weeds???

I never could understand where some of the yield would come from with such low fertility!
