Subject: Cut alfalfa or let it go til next year?

NE IL
I planted alfalfa and orchard grass on 20 acres this spring using oats for a cover crop. It came up nice and we baled oat hay off it in mid June. I was planning to cut it again in August but we've had 9 inches of rain this month and haven't had a window to cut it. The new alfalfa is a nice stand but there's foxtail, ragweed, lambs quarter and waterhemp scattered through the field that has already gone to seed. I planned on it being weedy as most of our first year alfalfa is when we take second cutting but after we bale it up there are no weeds for the remaining years of the stand. If I just let this field go should I expect weeds in the hay next year or will the alfalfa out compete it? It's raining again today and probably wouldn't be able to cut it for at least another week. I've got other hay to make before harvest so I'm running out of time to make it all. In your opinion what should I do with it? Thanks.
