Subject: Steel frame machine shed, what to use for rat guard?

NE Iowa
Looking into a steel frame machine shed. (80x160) and will have to pour concrete footing pads to set steel beams on. Pouring a frost wall all the way around the structure would be the Cadillac way to do this project, but highly doubt we would ever cement the floor, so not sure if I need the full footing. The question I have it what have others with a steel frame building without a full footing done to keep rats, etc. from burrowing underneath to get into the building I've seen treated lumber along the base of wooden pole buildings that can be back-filled with gravel or dirt, but do't like the idea of covering up steel with dirt or gravel. Curious what others have done for rat guard along the base of a metal building? TIA
