Bon Homme County, South Dakota | So, after a lot of digging, I finally figured out how to grease the fan on early 8R's. Basically, you need to take the shield off of the right hand side of the tractor, and get to the driver part of the fan belt. You need to remove the three bolts holding the shieve in place, as well as releasing the pressure from the bleeder vent cap. That's the silver 2 inch protrusion right behind the fan belt drive part. After the first shieve is off, you then need to pull off the rubber case covering to expose the second shieve that you need to pull back as well. Pull back enough to just see the splines on the shaft, which is what needs to be greased. I was told there is no grease zerk, and you need to manually apply grease to the shaft. After that, make sure you put the first shieve back on correctly. There are 3 ways to put it on, just make certain the three pegs line up in the hole. If you don't, you'll start getting fan high speed warnings quickly.
Edit: Not sure why all the photos submitted sideways. Not sure how to edit that.
