| What is the latest and greatest stuff? I'm getting a bit out of the loop so I figured I should catch up on what's available at least.
Let's say you buy used a 1770NT that had basically no good factory options other than CCS for cheap at an auction. What do you change as you rebuild it and how much will it cost per row?
I'm thinking:
1. Electric drives for both variable rate and shutoff control through precision planting
2. 20/20 monitor
3. Hydraulic down pressure with weigh pins on every row for automatic down pressure control
4. Wave vision seed tubes (or is there some belt deal now?)
5. RK Products gauge wheel kits
6. RK or Exapta seed tube guards
7. RK closing wheel bracket bearings
8. New openers
9. Dawn single disk fertilizer openers
10. Clean sweep row cleaners (or some other brand with a similar concept?)
How would AgLeader or John Deere compete on cost and performance if you used them instead? Are there other things you would do?
Just seems like used 24 row planters are dirt cheap. Seems like if a guy spent some time in the shop he could maybe have a planter better than you could buy from the factory new for several thousand dollars per row less? | |
