Subject: cost to grow corn

SE Iowa
Top Producer magazine numbers for 196bu/acre on 800 acres. Higher then most but takes in a lot of variables. $4.23 a bushel.
Land 214
N 101
Fert 46
Equipment 173
Seed 102
Ins 23.18
Management 56
crop protection 28.71
drying 22.65
hauling 37.50
storage 3.45
spray (2) 15.00
interest 7.22
Not my numbers. Have a few disagreements with some of the numbers. Some too high (hauling, N) some too low (land, fert). Land is way too low for rent, too high for owned but I think a guy should use the local rent number on owned land anyway as that is what you could get from neighbors. I think many guys are estimating their costs way too low.
