Subject: Radishes not growing down into the ground.

Mid-Missouri
We planted some radishes a couple of months ago. We disced the ground, fertilized and spread the radishes, and then harrowed. Until recently, we have been very dry, but not with excessive heat. Recent showers have greened things up. The radishes are now about 2-3" in diameter and maybe 14" long. The issue I see is there is more radish growing above ground than below. It seems the radishes were able to grow well within the depth that the disc ran, but had a very hard time going any deeper. The tap-root is very restricted and a bit wrinkled at this depth. What is your opinion?

Thanks
