Northern CA | Our 1993 Cat 65C model Challenger tractor has 4300 original hours. We were discing with it today going along in 6th gear just fine. The brakes have never been great on it since we bought it last year, but they would work if you pumped them a time or three. Anyway, my guy was going along and he said it acted like the disc was pulling harder, so he downshifted. Then he stopped to put a marker pipe back on a riser and checked to make sure all the disc gangs rotated freely. When he got back in, it was struggling in 4th gear. He raised the disc up and limped it out of the field in 2nd gear. He said he could smell something warm when he got out and also the brake pedal was pretty firm / hard.
Our closest dealer is about 100 miles. Any ideas? | |
