SE Nebraska, Near Misery and Cans Ass! | My old friend considered the fourth of july as one of the most important marketing weeks of the year. He said that if a trend continued through that time period it was likely to continue for a longer period and usually accelerate. If it reversed it was usually continue for a longer period of time. He marketed his crop on an historical basis pricing most of his grain on one of three dates. First of may, fourth of July , thanksgiving and I realize now I just followed his advice. Whenever he observed an historical trend he would comment on the years /times that were an exception. This was usually due to extreme outside influences like grain embargos , volcanic eruptions, political event. etc. Seldom weather. That he said was an hysterical price pattern. I think we are in a normal fourth of july reversal just latter than usual but I'm not sure, could be hysterical I just don't know what the event is. Really think he would. Did I say I miss my old friend? |
