Subject: 855 Cummins Crank bearings?

Mid-Missouri
Have a Versatile 936 with about 5500 hours, bought new. Just ran the overhead. Intakes call for .011 and they were snug. Exhaust called for .023 and they were a bit loose. The injectors called for 2.36 or something on travel. They were set using a dial indicator to the spec the tag called for. This tractor, and engine are 88 models. The block says "big cam" on it , but I am pretty sure at one time I say "big cam III" on it somewhere at one time.

Anyway, we are going to pull the pan and inspect the crank bearings. If the mechanic thinks they are good, we will leave it alone. If they are not real good for the hours, we will replace. He felt the higher priced Cummins bearings were not worth the money, just to get a Cummins name on a product they don't make anyway. He likes Clevite. Anyone have an opinion on good bearings?

Thanks.
