Subject: tile problem for the experts

SE Iowa
I farm a very flat 40 acre field that is tiled on 99 foot centers (6 rods). Way too far apart. The main runs east/west approx. down the center of the field with the laterals running north to south north of the main and south to north south of the main. Quite a few of the 4 inch laterals are plugged for some reason, probably from being installed incorrectly as these are clay and they may not be tight against each other. They were put in by machine probably in the 30's or 40's and are down about 3 to 3.5 feet. The ones I dug up were totally filled and not crushed. My dilemma is what to do. Tile the whole field over on 50 feet centers or spot new tile in between the existing tile. I figure more old tile will plug as time goes on so I lean toward installing all new tile.
