Subject: Farming strip mined soil

Nw pa
Have a chance to get some ground up the road from me that was stripped probably 30 years ago before my time anyway. I was told stones were picked off of it but what's down 6-12 inches could be a different story. It's never been cropped since it's been stripped just have had hay taken off of it. Should I take a chance and try farming it? Should I plan on nothing but no til, what crop should I consider on planting I'm sure the fertility isn't that great. Just a lot of questions but wondered if anybody has farmed strip mined soil.
