| Short story: burned up my 1976 F-600 Louisville that stacks my 3x3x8 bales, need something newer.
Found a 99 Int 4700 with T444e (powerstroke?) and auto transmission that has about the right dimensions and ~100,000 miles. Don't need much power (Ford 360 was a racehorse in the Lousiville) as I generally only haul about 5000-9000# depending on bale size.
What transmission is that, an Allison?
Is the truck itself as solid as an old 70's single axle grain truck? I know and trust the Ford powertrain, is the Intl the same? How hard would it be to put a 15-20gpm hydraulic pump on this truck?
I always had a little trouble with the old 360 Ford Holley carb because I hammer into so many bales picking them up, how 'shock resistant' would the T444 be? Seems a diesel should be a little less finicky in this department than a carb?
Thanks for any answers or observations about this rig, I don't know anything about newer trucks like this, and I sure appreciate AgTalks wisdom. | |
