| I own a section of land except for 80 acres owned by retired widow. All of my land is pivot irrigated except for her 80 acres. I bought the 80 acres next to her land and put on a pivot 2 years ago. BTO farms her dry land and she feels she is treated fairly. She pays half of inputs, he farms it and she gets 50% of crop. The only area that has water is the very north end of the section, which I own and far from her land. There is not sufficient water on her land. I would like to make it cash rent or share crop but don't know how to do that if I supply the water and pivot. My current pivot could just swing as it is onto her land without any modification. Would the taxes on her land increase if I water with my pivot? I would assume yes. Any suggestions? I live where pivots can make or break a crop. I would guess her yields would increase 1/3 with irrigation and her risk would drop. | |
