Subject: Quick and easy yield monitor question!

North Liberty and South Bend, Indiana
I am going to be installing my recently received PF3000. Been thinking about this one thing for a few days not though. Goes for any and all yield monitors. I used the monitor to map planting, hooked to a small, cheap, ($12) , and simple button style micro switch for an implement switch. As soon as it closes/opens the "mapping" was on/off. But here is what confuses me, what happens to the yield monitor when I raise the head to stop "mapping"? Does it stop counting acres and bushels or just acres but keeps counting bushels? This first would throw things off a bit if that was the case, meaning I would leave the head below the shutoff point until all grain was out of the elevator then raise to stop counting. Free beer to the first who can factually answer but you must come pickup and must like ice cold Miller Lite. Thanks!!
