Subject: Car Insurance - Different Cars, Same House, Different Carriers???

Central Western VA Mountains
We've got 6 cars and light trucks at our home. Some we bought new, others that were given to us by relatives. All but 2 are drivers and the 2 that ain't are projects waiting to be completed - however, to keep the local government off our backs, we have to tag and insure these non-runners - no problem.

Except...

I have a good insurance policy with Erie and have been with them for over 20 years. I have good liability limits (read high). However, I'd like to lower the liability on the non-runners to the minimum to save $$$'s, but the insurance agent told me Erie won't do that - tailor liability limits to specific cars.

Soooo...

I'm thinking what I need to do is drop Erie from the non-runners and use another carrier, perhaps USAA.

Anyone have different cars on different insurance companies in the same household?

Thanks!
