Subject: JD 4710 boom fold cylinder

Embarrass WI
My 4710 had the bolt holding the boom fold cylinder break the other day, actually it had been broken for a long time, the break was well coated with rust. This bolt goes through a ball similar to a 3-pt ball on the ram, that ball is cracked and has a piece missing. JD parts does not show this ball as a separate part, I would have to buy the whole cylinder at close to $700. I would prefer to simply replace the ball in he socket, but I don't see a good way to do it. Does anyone have a 'workaround' for this?

For temporary, I fashioned a ball out of some thick plastic sheet I had around, but I can see that the plastic is not going to hold up to the load. It should be steel.
