Subject: Milo head exertion during dry weather

E. Kansas
Milo is in boot stage with maybe 50% of the heads starting to come out. We have been hot and fairly dry, with only 1/2 inch of rain in the last 3+ weeks. I noticed a couple plants seemed to be a little further along. The top of the head is pollinating while the bottom is still partly in the flag leaf sheath. My question is, once pollination starts, is the plant done pushing up the head? Rain in forecasted Tuesday, will it help push the heads up that are just coming out or still in the sheath? Or would it be too late? Thanks.
