East Central Ia | I got a chance to look at one of my many AMS top dress trails today.
This is on ground that has had hog manure every other year for a long time so fertility is good. I was not expecting to see a yield boost in this particular instance.
First year corn
Pioneer 1151AM
Agrigold 6472VT2RIB
AMS was spread at V2-V3 at 150#/Ac (31.5-0-0-36s) with an RG 1100 Rogator
Field had fall applied Manure
K - 107#
P - 90#
N- 189#
Spring NH3 supplement at 75lbs actual N
295.5# of total N with AMS
264# of total N without AMS
1) AMS 256, No AMS 248
2) AMS 247, No AMS 239
3) AMS 260, No AMS 253
4) AMS 260, No AMS 252
Overall it looks like a very consistent 7-8 bu increase which I would believe is the sulfur because this field had plenty of N total. Although I wouldn't be surprised if quite a bit of the N from the manure was gone from the heavy rains we had.
I have these in about six different fields so I am pretty excited to see the results.
