Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | The old gal is getting slow and it it time once again to reinstall windows (Vista). I am thinking that I'll install windows on a new HD and once I'm happy with the 'brand new' setup, I'd like to clone it to the old drive. The thought is that I would clone a 'brand new' OS, with all programs installed- no viruses, no (well, less) bloat, no errors, etc. FWIW, I'm running a slave in the 2nd HD slot for file backup.
In two years when it is slow again, I'd insert the cloned drive and have a 'brand new' system without having to go through the reinstall process. Obviously, There will be a need for updates, software and hardware changes, etc, but the basics will be there. Then, after things are good again, everything could be re-cloned.
Any thoughts? This computer will likely be around for a while, even if it isn't the main one. I have googled it a bit and it seems easy enough to get software or freeware that will do this. Any recommendations?
good luck -jim
