Subject: RE: Salting Cattle Before Auction

I’ve heard of people giving them salt and holding off water then letting them load up, people I don’t do business with.
My name goes on the cattle when they are sold, the feedlots keep track. I want them coming back.
I bought 300 and some bawlers off a father and son this last fall that would gather them the day before and I’d come bid em the next day or they’d take em to the barn. One set he said “well this group isn’t gonna weigh as much I ran outta salt last night!” He has a sense of humor like me and is honest. He didn’t rile me a bit. I threw out a bid $20 under and he laughed.

Mans word in this business goes a long ways here. You sell what they are and the buyers come back. I’ll be bidding on his calves next year.
