Inspect the roller chain that drives the big drum on the bottom of the baler. It almost sounds like that drum is not spinning properly since that's what does the majority of feeding into the bale chamber (not the apron). The early models had a sprocket on a spring that kept that roller chain tight and worked good, and the newer models had a chain guide that you had to manually adjust periodically (but nobody ever did). Best case scenario is that chain is broken and the drum is not spinning under power and the apron is trying to do all the work.


We did adjust that chain yesterday. The drum turns, it has bars welded to the drum, I'm wondering if the bars are worn and its not grabbing the hay like it should.
