| I’m not for sure if it works like this for big trucks, but in Illinois for passenger vehicles you just tell them you want brand new plates, if you’ve went over a year with them being expired. If you keep your old plate then I think you have to pay the fee for the previous year.
I didn’t renew mine last year either for the same reason, so you aren’t the only guy.
Also, if you had a truck that sat in the weeds for 20 years, then you brought it back on the road, I don’t think they can charge you for 20 years of back plates. Same deal basically. | |
