southern MN | My sister and I took an early fall, or late summer trip out west and ended up in the second eruption it had. We drove through Idaho without seeing Idaho, the ash was like a thick fog. We ended up circling the mountain from a great distance, it was quite something. We got to a hotel and got in the elevator with a guy completely coated in white powder, turned out he was some inspector/ official checking over the mountain, was covered in ash.
