BigCAT79 - 5/17/2021 20:45 Does anyone do their own dust control? Have an 500 gallon old sprayer that could be repurposed for the application. Is there a high volume type of floodjet nozzle that works well? Had planned to use calcium chloride or mag chloride, is there a guide or rule of thumb for how many lbs of product per square footage? One distributor told me 100lbs of mag chloride per 600 square feet for first application if you were spreading it dry, at that rate it would be cheaper to hire it done. Everyone around the area that does it for high sprays it on... TIA

The spray rate is around 0.4 gals/yard on the high side to 0.2gals/yard on the low side for application. That can be done without a spray tip and by drilling some holes in a pvc pipe. To each their own on application. The going rate here for shed floor application and farm drives is between $1.20 and $1.45 gal (apply at the 0.4 rate).  Lot of jacking around in a farm yard/shed, so it's much higher then road application ($0.95 - $1.00 gal).

Thanks for the info, are they using the mag flakes and disolving in water or just buying a liquid solution and mixing with water?
