SWOH
Define work. 55 hours of strenuous physical or mental work is a lot different than being at work for 55 hours. Leisurely tinkering around in the shop in the evening is technically work, but is relaxing. Mowing the yard could be considered work but if I wasn’t farming it would probably be something I do on Saturday morning when I would be off work, and I find it relaxing. But some people make their living mowing yards. Maybe my view of that study is skewed because my job and my personal time has always been intertwined. Are they trying to make the case that it’s the mental aspect of “work” that kills people early? Or that “work” is always stressful? I’m assuming they could cite that study as science, but it seems like a very odd study to me. There would be a ton of variables.
