We removed several miles on a farm that is permanent pasture and hay. They were all old plowed up terraces that snaked all over the place. One 15 acre field had several thousand feet - almost made you dizzy!

We bought a 6ft 3pt tiller and ran over them several times. Then used a angle blade on a dozer to really feather them out, then a wide box blade to finish. That really made it smooth, and UT was easy to just leave a black dirt layer a inch deep across the area between the old terraces. Then we sold the tiller and got most of our moolah back. I was glad we did that.

It does make me wince removing any terraces when I think of the miles of walking behind a team that my grandfather did to put them in. But he would have agreed they served their purpose, and now we needed to remove them.

That is against everything I ever learned about soil structure back in soils 101 to do something like that
