West Central Indiana | My dad and I are having a cuss and discuss meeting about speeding up the corn planter next year. We currently run 28% and thiosulfate together to get 30# of nitrogen and that works out to be about 12+ gallon/acre. My corn has yielded better the last several years since we increased our rate of nitrogen. I have no test plots to confirm that and know there is 1000 other factors through the growing season that determine yield.
He thinks we should go back to 20#/acre and fill up less often. His argument is if we stop less often we would get done planting corn a day sooner.
Anyone done any plots or have experience with varying amounts of nitrogen in their starter?
Thanks for your input.
