Central Illinois | I don't know about where you are at but we have to pay an "athletic fee" per kid participating per sport. I believe it goes towards paying for officials and possibly motor fuel, etc. "Here", parents are footing the bill for some portion of extra-curricular activities, which do have a value to the students. BTW, bussing kids to sporting events is not wearing out busses. Just guestimating the travel of our high school baseball team this season - 12 away games at an average of 75 miles round trip is just 900 miles. Our baseball and softball teams share a bus where possible. Spread out over a fleet, most busses are probably not getting more than an additional 2-3,000 miles annually. | |
