Since only a few places will accept the material, disposal costs are high, and at one time companies had to deliver asbestos in sealed containers with their name attached in case the landfill encountered additional expenses down the road. Lots of asbestos remediation companies were formed to complete one job and then dissolved.
If it is for your own use, you may be able to encapsulate it, but at some point you or someone else will have to deal with it. Asbestos never really disappears, it just gets moved. | |
