Iowa crop rotations are heavier on corn because 1) on the Des Moine lobe the soils are heavy and high pH and beans get iron deficiencies and 2) they have a lot more livestock in that state than Illinois. Illinois has similar soils as Iowa, we can yield good corn and soybeans.
