I had just flown to India for the summer in mid-May.  Doing grad school research.

The rain in Iowa made the Delhi Times or some such.  I remember reading it.  One paragraph.

Later that summer it also mentioned some guy named Obama, who I vaguely recalled as a freshman Senator from IL. Boy was I out of that loop when I got home.
