western wisconsin near la crosse | I was just thinking the other day of the fact that I don't hear much about the purebred business anymore. Back in the day when we started farming it seemed you needed to have purebred cattle and try to be in the registered business. At the time from about 1975-2000 we had a registerd guernsey herd. Had one of the top herds in the county at the time. About 2005 we started crossbreeding with nontraditional dairy breeds and are much happier with the cows we have now. Just wondering if others are seeing the same trends in their areas. Around here we don't see much of the registered business anymore. Mark |
