West Central Iowa | The 1st four pictures show how thick rye was, in a few areas, and it really struggled to emerge. I only have coulters on my planter, this is the 1st time I have had issues. A lot of my issue was that I planted 15 inch rows, because I wanted to use planter units to get the rye going quicker. What I didn't count on was how thick the rye would be when I concentrated it in less rows.
2nd pictures show how rye made the corn freeze off, compared to where there was no rye. I don't understand why that happens, but I have seen it along waterways in the past.
