Subject: RE: Organic price?

Northern Ohio
There has been some discussion about this on Organic Talk. Imports are down from India because of certification issues., from what I understand. That’s been driving old crop beans. Imports of fraudulent corn should be way down because it’s just not profitable. There seems to be a shortage of old crop so buyers are keeping a very close eye on acres this year. I believe this will move the organic market quicker than the past, making the lag behind conventional price movements much shorter. We’re pushing $3 off the low for old crop and rumblings of the same already for new crop. Organic farmers tend to be more patient with new crop contracting. I’m hoping this will get buyers nervous, especially new buyers, and drive up prices.
