old eroded clay soils here to. Recently tilled soil will show an increase in infiltration when running this type of simulation. But do it a second time and a third time. Once that unconsolidated soil gets "settled" by the water infiltration will decrease. But, honestly, that test doesn't really tell the story that I see here. Do the "run through it test". Go out in a no-till field and a tilled field after a rain and see which one you can run through. Or if you have bad knees like me walk it. :) I think those type of tests and much of what we hear about no-till applies better to those places where they have 3 feet of topsoil, not 3 inches! But, I think no-till still have benefits to our old eroded clay soils....
