NWC Ohio
On JD and Kinze, Totally tubular drops the fertilizer in the bottom of the seed trench just before the seed drops into the seed trench.

Keaton’s will drop the fertilizer after the seed is in the trench, after the Keeton has pushed the seed down in the trench. You can either drop the fertilizer straight off the back of the keeton, directly over the seed, or get the keetons that shoot the fert out the back sides of the keeton directly against the trench walls, keeping the fertilizer slightly above the seed.

In either case, low salt fertilizers need to be used to limit or prohibit salt burn to the seed/sprout/plant.

I currently run a totally tubular style setup and Keetons (cause they were on the planter when I bought it). I don’t get a micrometer and check my plant spacing but the setup seems to work just fine here in my conventional tillage.
