Better soil and weather 30’s work just fine. Yield is basically same with less seed and bigger planter with less rows to maintain.

Thinner soils with harsher weather 15’s pay.

Also topo plays a role. Square and flat it’s easier to run 30’s. Hilly with contours and terraces 15’s or even 10’s are better to spray and cut.

If I was in good soil with somewhat square or straight rows id go to 30’s in a heartbeat. However that’s not the case so 15’s it is. I’d go to 10’s but dread the row upkeep.
