AGB early planting depends a lot on if you have sandy loams or clays....The clays can often be dry enough to plant but without heat they are slow too warm up and if it stays cold or a big rain event seedlings struggle.

We had an early spring last yr. for here, early May planting and then 4" rain before emergence, some replant and another 3" rain event in June...

No matter how much tile the heavy ground and low spots then struggle all summer.

Big variance here, 3 miles south, sandy loam vegetable ground, 3 miles north clay brick ground....Usually just have to do the best you can with soil and weather.

I've got clay or muck. Not much in-between. My clay grows my best crops. It's all tiled well but is very unforgiving, especially if worked wet.
