Subject: RE: Mahindra 856

I always thought it was the B414 model, but that don’t matter because i think the gear shift design about the same on those models of IH tractors. But Mahindra is still making that basic tractor design today in a 2 wd and 4 wd tractor. Since you had such good memories of the 424 you could have that basic design tractor today in a 4 wd version with a loader. All fun aside Mahindra sold a lot of tractors of IH version. I been around few of the Mahindra 4540 tractors in the past, I agree they are crude design, gearshift not smooth shifting if you get in a hurry, but they are a heavy tractor for a 40 horsepower tractor and a 4 wheel drive tractor with a loader will handle 5x6 grass roll of hay easy. But I agree it still a sixty year old design. But in fairness Mahindra does have more modern design tractors in their lineup.
