Middlesex County, Ontario | We use a little 1025r diesel lawn tractor in our poultry barn to spread straw. Super dusty conditions that will plug the rad screens in 20 minutes.
When the tractor begins to overheat it will disable the PTO. I think it will cut the engine if it gets any hotter.
The tractor has idiot dial gauges that just stay at “happy” until not happy. The dial doesn’t show the real temp. I added a fully mechanical Murphy temperature gauge so that we can see the real temp, and I wired a red clearance light into the gauge so that as soon as the coolant temp goes above the thermostat setting, the light comes on.
These Murphy gauges are dead simple to tie into things.
Anyway, to answer your question. Ya, it’s possible, and commonplace, even my lawnmower has that feature.
