Nothing wrong with that style. Typically a wet boom style is nice if you are applying higher rates that a visual flow indicator column can't keep up with, OR if the rate is high enough that you aren't worried about stuff being possibly plugged.

Definitely a fan of a visual flow indicator style if you have some siteline to the front of the planter. Cheap (enough), simple, and no real way to 'trick' them. (Flow is flow)
Having the manifold pointing up would be fine too. If there is any salt-out or debris, it at least tries to keep it to the bottom of the pipe instead of stuck in the nozzle inlets. Easier to flush at the end of the season if you are doing that too.

Always things to be said about PVC tubing overtime, but on a small chunk like that, even if it doesn't look the prettiest, it would do the job.
