I run a somewhat similar plan for my custom spraying. I used to charge just by the acre but after spraying 200 acres in 7 different fields (and only 3 fields even had one straight side) for one guy last summer I decided to switch to an acre charge plus 50 per field.
LOL. Why I think that is funny os that I had a guy exactly like that. 200 acres in 7 pieces but his had no straight sides in any of them. On top of that he is almost an hour away. I sprayed for him for 15 years. Last year he rented out his land and retired. Didn't break my heart and i certainly won't miss it. He was always VERY appreciative that I came and did it for him and he knew that there wasn't any money in it for me. I charged the same $5/acre as is my usual rate. In this case this was a guy that I know well and he has been hiring me from the beginning. He was giving me his work back when I was struggling to find work. As my business increased to the point that spraying for him was more of a hinderance to me than a benefit, I wasn't going to abandon him. Like I said in an earlier post, loyalty gets loyalty. |
