Subject: RE: Guage wheel load

South Central MN
My planter is all spring downforce, but can be changed between 4 settings. Three rows have downforce sensors on them, so I have to go by the average. I like to see 100 lbs. and 100% contact, once in a while have had less than 100% contact but the seeds were still being placed at set depth, main thing is what all 3 are averaging out as. Not unusual in my case to have one row running a bit light and the others heavy, especially on edges or when I found a wheel track.

I think 100-200 is a good starting point, under 100 may be a bit light depending on conditions, over 200 if wet can compact the sidewall too much. Kind of cringe when it says 300+...
