Subject: RE: Iveco motor in case magnum

1 hour east of ol cheyenne
+1 also if it is too full on oil the crankshaft will whip excess air into the oil making a frothy mix that will get past the rings easier than oil that is liquid ( the oil will flow and splash around in the crankcase with many very small air bubbles in it and that air will stay suspended in the oil increasing the oil volume/ height thus adding to the whipping effect).
This is why racing engines use a " windage" tray and crankshaft " scraper " for oil control to keep the oil liquid and from foaming. This might be the problem. Engine masters TV program they actually proved on a dyno that 20+ horse power can be made by a race engine with proper oil pan and windage tray was very interesting episode. The engine made more power if oil was at add vs at full. (Keep in mind this is extreme rpm engine 8K rpm but drag on the rotating mass and frothing are not good in any engine.)
Most likely in your case a combination of several things ie ... Frothing may lead to crankcase filter getting clogged sooner and possibly over pressuring crankcase adding to the frothing process ect..
